A little about Dahlia...

Well, Dahlia has been with us for about a month, and we have come to learn a few things about her:

  • She is the easiest, happiest baby on the planet.
  • She loves to be swaddled.
  • She is a very quiet baby. She rarely ever cries. When she does, it's usually because she is cold, although she has recently started to mildly cry when she is hungry.
  • While she hated sponge baths, now that she gets to sit in a bath of warm water, she seems to like bath time.
  • She is such a little baby, she has to use a preemie nipple on her bottles. Once Mom and Dad figured this out, she successfully started taking bottles of breast milk, much to Mom's relief as that meant that Dad could take a night feeding and let Mom sleep.
  • She makes lots of little noises all the time. We have never heard a noisier newborn. It's much nicer than crying!
  • She is quite a sleepy baby, but she is starting to have more and more times of being awake and alert.
  • When she isn't swaddled, she has a hard time laying still. Her arms just whirl around. The older she gets, the easier time she seems to have of it. Especially if she is outside. She seems to really like being outside. When we stretch her out on a blanket on the ground, she lays still and just looks around.
She is a wonderful baby, and we are so, so glad she is with us.
