Enjoying a cinnamon roll

Dahlia is getting quite good at eating finger foods by herself, and she has almost completely weaned herself from a bottle.

Going for a walk

The rain stopped and the sunshine came out, so we thought we would go for a walk before the Duke game. Go Blue Devils!

Finally, some hair!!

Happy Easter!

It's hard to get the Bean to stand still long enough for a picture, but these are what I could get.

Walking and waving!

Dahlia loves to walk with her walker. She also loves to wave hello! We are working on blowing kisses. A video of that to come a little later.

11 months!

At 11 months old, Dahlia loves pulling up on things! She will walk a lot if someone holds her hands, and she walks behind her little walker. Also, she eats ALL THE TIME. We can never seem to get her full! She waves and is working on blowing kisses. She is very independent and wants to do what she wants to do when she wants to so it. She has moved to the next classroom at daycare, and she is adjusting to the change. She likes being around the toddlers, but it's a lot different than the baby room and there is an adjustment period. She loves it when Mom and Dad give her kisses and she is quite affectionate. She is growing and developing fast!!

First nasty bruise

Learning to stand and walk is dangerous business. It leaves one with nasty bruises on their forehead. She is fine; bumped and banged up a bit but still trying.

Our afternoon at the Stay and Play Cafe

We went to the Stay and Play Cafe this afternoon for some coffee and playtime. Dahlia showed us how much she can MOVE! She has become quite fast at her version of crawling, sits up from being on her belly, pulls up, sits from standing, and is beginning to cruise along surfaces. It seems like everyday she masters a new trick. She has also started to mimic people, which makes for a lot of fun games. Here are some pictures and videos from our afternoon.

10 Months Old

At 10 months old, Dahlia is becoming quite mobile and independent. She has learned how to pull up, and she loves it! The frustrating part is she has a hard time getting back down. Sometimes that scares her, but she is learning! She has also decided that she likes to feed herself, and she would prefer if we let her do it without any help from us. She is pretty adamant about that. Since she can't quite use a spoon yet, we have had to get creative about how she eats things. She loves to suck food straight from the little Plum pouches and she is good at picking up things like carrots, green beans, potatoes, meats, and bread. The girl LOVES to eat. She still smiles at everyone, especially other children. She is quite social and gregarious. She is growing fast!

Playtime with Riker

Riker is very protective of Dahlia and is impressively patient with her.

She is still and quiet sometimes...

Trying to crawl

For the life of her, she can't figure out this crawling thing. She tries this, as well as "army crawling" with her arms pulling her along.

Teeth!

Dahlia was cheesing in her chair, so I snapped a picture. You can see all 7 (that's right, 7) of her teeth!

9 month Drs visit

Dahlia had her 9 month check up at the doctor.

She weighed 20 lbs 1.5 oz, was 28.75 inches long, and her head circumference was 46.5 cm (97th percentile!!!).

The doctor said she is developing great and is very healthy. No allergies, no issues with her ears. She has 6 teeth now and one more coming up. No shots this time. She is doing great!

Messy baby!

Dahlia is working hard to learn how to pick up food and feed herself. It's a messy business.

On our way to daycare

Excited to go play with her friends!

9 months old!

Well, at 9 months old, Dahlia's personality is starting to shine, and ladies and gentlemen, she is a little spitfire who knows what she wants and when she wants it. :-) She wants to be fed as SOON as her butt hits the high chair, not a second later. And she wants to give HERSELF drinks of water, thank you very much. She can't crawl yet, but she is soooo close, and she is now frustrated that she can't do it. She knows what she needs to do, if her body would just cooperate with her. She is a silly, noisy baby who loves to play, enjoys music, and is discovering the simple joy of banging on things. She can make some sounds: b, d m. She doesn't say mama and dada with any meaning yet, but all in good time. She's just awesome!

Sunday play time

Dahlia was having fun this morning.

She is soooo close to crawling. She keeps getting stuck in this position, which is so frustrating for her.

Big girl pajamas

For the first time, Dahlia is wearing two piece pajamas, not a one piece, footy pajama set. I don't know why, but it makes me sad. :-( She is growing so fast!
